Why Not Just Ask?

As much as I am trying to stay lighthearted and sensible about all of the fun and risk and adventure and craziness coming our way, the whole ordeal is insane. I am in school full-time, completing 12 units in 10 weeks– it’s an intense load, even life is just normal. I can’t focus, but I have almost-daily assignments due, papers, projects and exams. My quarter ends the same week we plan to leave. I have packing, parenting, housekeeping, and family-feeding to do. I kept wishing that someone could help me. REALLY help me. In a big way. Asking for help does not come naturally to me. Still, I took a risk, and asked a friend. I told her that I knew it was a lot to ask, and a wild idea, but would she consider coming out here to help me pack? I couldn’t buy her a ticket, and I promised her a lot of work. I felt bad for even asking, but I was trying to follow my own advice. And she said yes. She has more than enough frequent flyer miles to make the trip, and, in her incredibly busy schedule, she has made the time, and she’s excited. Amazing.
I’m so glad I asked.
Now, what do you need? Ask!

Good! I’m so glad you asked. As one who likes to help people, it’s a kind of gift to be asked, when there is a real need! I’m sure your friend is delighted to know she is really going to help you, where you need it most!
