A new cookbook came in the mail this week, and our whole family is excited about it! In fact, my 7 year old daughter was the first to grab The Nourished Kitchen, and has been poring over it ever since. She is thrilled that there are so many gluten-free recipes, and as a big fan of River Cottage and Hugh Fernley Whittingstall, she said she loves that the recipes come so naturally from the farm to the table– and even include foraged foods. Since I’ve never seen her so enthusiastic about a cookbook before, I thought I’d let Amelia do most of the review for us today!
But first, I’d like to say that this cookbook is wonderful. I love Jenny’s approach to food– it’s sustainable, seasonal and local. The food is beautiful and the focus is on thoughtful enjoyment of all the delicious resources around us. I love that she is teaching people to use fermentation and other traditional food preparation methods– it’s good for the planet, the body, and the soul. Here are some photos of the beautiful recipes in her book. (Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing one of the recipes I’m most excited about with you!)
Are you hungry yet?
Let’s hear some of Amelia’s thoughts on this book. (She came up with all of this on her own, just so you know!)
So there you have it!

Based on Amelia’a review, I preordered it!
Fantastic, Karin! I’ll let her know she was a success. 🙂
Amelia did a splendid job of reviewing this book! Well done!….And I love the hint of an English accent — made me smile.
Sherry, I can’t actually hear an English accent– but our American family does when they skype. You should hear her at school, when she turns it on and sounds just like her classmates!
5 stars #cutestreviewever
Thanks Catherine!
Fantastic review Amelia! I can hardly wait for my pre-ordered cookbook to arrive.
I’ll let her know!
OMG I was thinking about buying this cookbook, I am now convinced! How can I pass up such an endorsement!!!
Hurray! I’ll let Amelia know that she was effective! 🙂
Talking of books, I came across a book recently which I am sure you would enjoy. You can reserve it at Bury St. Edmunds library. It is “Suffolk Summer” by John Appleby. He was an American serviceman stationed at Lavenham air force base in the spring and summer of 1945. The war in Europe was coming to an end and he had a lot of spare time, much of which he spent cycling round the country lanes, visiting ancient churches and getting to know some of the locals. He arranged for the profits from the book to pay for what is now the John T Appleby rose garden in the grounds of the abbey at Bury St. Edmunds.
That does sound really interesting! We will definitely look it up– thank you for telling me about it!
