A new cookbook came in the mail this week, and our whole family is excited about it! In fact, my 7 year old daughter was the first to grab The Nourished Kitchen, and has been poring over it ever since. She is thrilled that there are so many gluten-free recipes, and as a big fan of River Cottage and Hugh Fernley Whittingstall, she said she loves that the recipes come so naturally from the farm to the table– and even include foraged foods. Since I’ve never seen her so enthusiastic about a cookbook before, I thought I’d let Amelia do most of the review for us today!But first, I’d like to say that this cookbook is wonderful. I love Jenny’s approach to food– it’s sustainable, seasonal and local. The food is beautiful and the focus is on thoughtful enjoyment of all the delicious resources around us. I love that she is teaching people to use fermentation and other traditional food preparation methods– it’s good for the planet, the body, and the soul.
