So, after sitting on the floor, in bed, and on windowsills for over three months, we finally got some real furniture! I happened to find it on clearance at Mirabeau, and although we had been warned that delivery can take forever here, both pieces arrived just two weeks after ordering.

Once we got them, however, I realized that they were smaller than I had envisioned, and would just look silly in our enormous living room. Plus, we have been keeping the doors to that room closed, as we are watching our heating bill very closely. It seemed wasteful to suddenly start heating that room all day. I decided to make a “sitting room” in our bedroom instead. We have plenty of space, and I already keep this room heated anyway. I had a heavy bedspread that I put down as an area rug, and the furniture seems like a great fit for the space.
I put it all together as soon as the furniture arrived, and it was fun to show Jeff when he got home from work. The little side table is an antique crock turned upside down. The artwork is some cool collages my sister-in-law made for me a while back.
That chest turned out to be even more perfect than I had thought! Now I need to find a smaller chest or trunk to use as a coffee table in the center, and we’ll call it done.
Here you can see better how our room is laid out. I totally look forward to getting up in the morning, sitting there to work and look out the windows. The past couple of weeks have been quite stressful for Jeff and me, and it seems like this came at the perfect time– it is so peaceful and cozy, and has done much for our morale to not have to sit on the floor all of the time. Since I am going to school full-time online, having a comfortable workspace has seriously changed my life! I spend hours here each day, and I am so thankful to have a serene, comfortable place to spend much of my day.
As for the living room… Maybe we can rent it out as a dance studio!

It is truly a wonderful space. We have a sitting area in our bedroom, and it is THE place for quiet and a good aesthetically relaxing sit.
