We have been blanketed in snow for over a week now, and the next ten days have snow on the forecast as well! Although I’ve been through some snowy winters in Portland, this is totally different! The snow doesn’t melt in between dustings/ dumpings. Something else that is different is that I never really had to walk through much of it. I’d get in my car, drive to wherever I was going, then hustle through the snow to the next doorway into someplace warm and dry. Now I am usually guaranteed at least an hour of trudging through the snow each day. I actually don’t mind it at all, but I am completely underprepared, in terms of wardrobe. I just ordered some boots on ebay, so hopefully things will be a little cozier in a week or so!
Cold toes aside, it is lovely. Just when you think your little town couldn’t get any cuter, it gets dusted with “powdered sugar” and it all looks like a fairy tale city of gingerbread houses! Add to that the garlands and lights strung across the streets, giant lighted Christmas trees, and the Christmas markets all weekend, and it is absolutely magical.
And indoors it’s awfully cozy, too! I love all of the views of snow covered rooftops and tree branches, especially when I’m warm! I’ll share some Christmas decorations tomorrow.

It does look rather magical. It is good that you see all the positive things about snow rather than the negative. Love you.Grandma
