Have I mentioned that everyone was beautiful in Turkey? I really wanted to stop every person I saw and ask if I could take their picture. But I am shy, so I did not. But I did get up the nerve to ask two men with whom we had spent some time.

He owned the restaurant behind him in this picture, as well as a mens’ clothing store. He made us Turkish coffee over an open flame in his wood burning oven, and he also tried to sell Jeff a speedo.

This gentleman owns the jewelry store behind him, and makes many pieces himself. He made Amelia orange juice and offered me tea when I asked him for help finding an adaptor for my computer. We sat and chatted for a while, and when I tried to pay for our drinks, he said “No, no, this is from me. When you return with your husband, then I will let him pay.”
Did Jeff buy the speedo?
Ha! Nope, but he does realize that he cannot be an honorary European until he does!
These are beautiful portraits. I love reading about your holiday in Turkey.
