Do you ever have your finances get a little tight at Christmas time, then mistakenly get charged for a conference that your employer should have paid for, almost drain your bank account completely, can’t get the money refunded in a timely manner because the people doing the registration are in Turkey and don’t speak English, worry about being able to buy food for the next week until you get paid, and go out and spend every last penny you can on food, just so you don’t have to worry about it? Yeah, me neither. Not pictured: 4 pounds of butter, lots of ground beef, chicken thighs and a box of onions.

🙂
a) that is a SERIOUS bounty! beautiful food! is this a veg box? if so, i’ve been thinking about signing up for one and this might have pushed me over the edge! b) not getting paid (in time or EVER) for attending a conference is just awful. ugh! c) i am now hungry…
Hi Sarah! That is not from a veg box, actually. We love to go to local farm shops for most of our food shopping. In fact, most of the vegetables we bought came grouped in a crate for £5– carrots, parsnips, leeks, cauli, broccoli and savoy cabbage– such a great price! This is also a great place to find free-range and grass-fed meats for a good price. I’m sure there are plenty in your area, and they often have nice walking trails or access to animals you can visit– such a fun way to do your shopping!
What a great picture of your haul. I guess with a family the worry that it will go bad is not there like it would be for me. Farmers markets are indeed great places to shop.
I hope you guys get your refund for the conference soon.
