We made plans to get together with our friend Pierre, whom we had met the last time we were in Paris, and he suggested meeting for a picnic dinner at the Square du Vert Galant. He offered to book a cruise for us all to enjoy at sunset, and it was the perfect plan. After a very long day of travel (we drove from Bury St. Edmunds to Paris!) we were so tired, but this was a wonderful and relaxing way to enjoy our first evening there.
It was the warmest day of the year thus far in Paris, and tout le monde was out enjoying it. What fun to be part of this scene! We picked up a grocery store picnic, and Pierre met us with wine and little gifts for Amelia.
At about 10 p.m., we packed up the remains of our dinner, and made our way onto the boat.
We had taken one of these boat tours once before, but the weather was cold and we had been on the inside. Standing outside on a balmy summer evening, watching the sun set behind famous Parisian architecture was… sublime.

The cruise seemed short, but it was actually an hour long.
If you have the chance, I highly recommend seeing Paris at sunset along the Seine. Bonus points if you can do it with a few people you love, a picnic and a super-thoughtful Parisian friend!
