So, our main piece of furniture finally arrived, and now our kitchen is more or less complete. This is very exciting, since I spend so much time in here and it’s important to me that my creative space is cheerful and inspiring. I sure wish that I could have you over for a cup of coffee… But I can at least show you around the kitchen.
I’m still not sure I love the color of the walls, but I am just thankful that they are now clean and fresh looking. It’s growing on me, but if I could do it over again, it would not be nearly so bright!
I wish I could show you a “before” photo of this spot. There was a long fluorescent light stuck across this wall! We found this sweet little light on our most recent trip to Nuremberg.
I love having a little citrus tree in the kitchen. When we went to Sevilla for our honeymoon, I absolutely loved all of the orange trees everywhere. When we got back to L.A., we used a gift card that we got as a wedding gift to buy a little dwarf orange tree and a pot to keep to remember Spain. When we moved to Portland, we kept it in the kitchen all winter. Now it’s just something that makes me feel at home. This is a tangerine tree, all dolled up for the holidays.
Not a very interesting picture, but I thought you might like to see how big (or small) our fridge is! One third of the inside is freezer, but I suppose if we needed to keep something frozen we could just put it out on the balcony. We keep most of our fruits and vegetables out in bowls and baskets, and buy meats a couple times a week, so it is actually enough room for us.
come onto my sandwich
come with me to Lichtenrade
dream with me at dinner
Oh I love you so
I like to eat you
and the sky lights up with stars
and tomorrow is still far away
Come, we’ll sleep a little now
come very close to my mouth
give me a peck still very fast
marmelade is good for the body
