A Sunday Afloat in Woodbridge

Whenever the weather is really beautiful, I find myself wishing that I was near water. We live about an hour from the coast here, but it can be so cold and windy even on sunny days, that we wait until summertime to head to the beach. But on a boat in a marina? You never have to wait for that! We have friends here who are relatively new expats that keep a boat in the marina in the super-charming town of Woodbridge. Surprisingly, we had never visited Woodbridge before! Alex and Karen invited us to spend a day on their boat and walking around the town with them, and we leapt at the chance.The first order of business after we found their sailboat and they gave us the quick tour below deck, was to walk along the paths in the Marina. It was so pretty! We loved looking at all the different boats– many of them are primary residences. After the walk around the water, we headed into Woodbridge. There was so much beauty and charm everywhere we looked. Here’s the town hall:

There were lots of really cute shops and cafes, and even more cool homes.
After we got a good look at the town, we headed back to the marina. It was so nice to see so many people out and enjoying being near the water on a Sunday afternoon. We had a nice picnic lunch on deck and just basked in the sunshine and enjoyed all of the beautiful scenery. What a perfectly lovely day near the water!

Because of the way the marina is situated and the tides, it’s nearly impossible to get the boat out and back in on the same day– so Alex and Karen use the boat as their weekend home and enjoy the sailing community around them who often do the same. They did recently take the boat for a trip, though! Karen shared pictures of their sailing trip to Ipswich— I think you’ll like it. I hope we can go sailing with them one of these days!
