We managed to talk Amelia into dressing up and coming to feria in El Puerto with us tonight! She looked so great, and we all had fun. Pardon all of the pictures of us posing, but I need to post these for the sake of memories of feria together!

I actually had to cut these off of my giant rose bush because the whole thing was picking up too much wind and I was afraid it would blow over. In the end, I had to tie it all down with stakes and twine last week, and that seems to be working.

It’s such a treat to have them inside!

It’s feria season, and we went to the Jerez fer

It’s feria season, and we went to the Jerez feria this evening. I really like the one in Jerez because it feels quite a bit more classy.

This year, I am just wearing nice clothes with flamenco-style accessories— a new dress was not in the budget, but it’s still fun to get dressed up.

We love just going and people watching. El Puerto’s is next week! 💃🏻

I love to plant the sprouted onions from our kitchen so I can enjoy their flowers. I never harvest onions to eat— I enjoy the blooms more.

Are you ready for a fun Before and After post?

It took our landlord five years to replace the gross chain link fence and tarp with ivy wall with a cement one.
Then it took a year and a half to get the cement wall painted. And then when he DID have it painted, it wasn’t plastered, and it was only one coat of paint— so it still looks awful! But he has never raised our rent, so we will take it.

This weekend we did our best to make it look good, and I am really happy with the results.

We went to our favorite Moroccan imports store for many items, and then used paint to pull pieces together. Jeff and I spent most of the weekend on this project together, and it’s so satisfying! Time to enjoy the next several months in my favorite “room” of the house.

I was feeling restless at home this afternoon, and Jeff remembered that this weekend is the celebration of our town’s patios.
El Puerto is nicknamed “The City of 100 Palaces,” and has many beautiful patios hidden behind giant wood doors. This weekend, they are open to the public, and Jeff and I had a great time seeing a bunch of them!

Some are people’s homes, and it is really sweet that they welcome us in to enjoy with them— in the last one, the owner greeted us as friends and offered us sherry and tapas. So cool!
