I have a real soft spot for open markets– when I was a little girl in the Philippines, I used to get up at 5 a.m. and go with our helpers to the market, and watch them haggle over the day’s ingredients. I love the bright colors, smells and exciting energy. And, of course, I love the beautiful food. We are staying in a suburb of Paris (Ris-Orangis) and were lucky enough to catch one on our way into the city!

Amelia has a wonderful curiosity that makes her an excellent traveler. Plus, she will try anything! The other night, she had fried prawns and happily snapped off the legs and popped out the eyes to munch! |
I should have tried one of these… Next time! |

Open markets are cool. It is truly a great thing to do on a warm spring day to walk through and see the sights and smell the smells. Though the fish freak me out.
