Well, we sure did a lot of eating and drinking in 2013! I thought it would be fun to make a list of all the food and beverage posts from the year. Clearly, I need to write more about solid food to balance all of the home brews in 2014!

Glühwein
Wild Nettles Beer

Easy Moroccan Beef Stew
Spatchcock Chicken Roasted with Garlic, Lemon & Ginger
Persian Lamb Stew with Rhubarb & Mint

And that wraps it up for the year! In 2014, I am looking forward to doing more collaborative posts with my butcher, and some great meat-curing projects, along with all the usual recipes for homebrewing, foraging and good old-fashioned eating.
Wishing all of us a very delicious New Year!

I joined your blog well into the year, (I believe I jumped aboard during your kitchen tour on Cheeseslave) but I must say the beverages are very appealing. Ariana, you’re doing recipes that no one else is and I am really glad I found your blog. I also liked your tour of the neighborhood where you went to get eggs. I’m planning to try your Shakshuka or a Wisconsin variety thereof, and I’m planning to make pastrami.
One of my goals is to start a blog this year and it seems a bit daunting. My blog would be a Farm-Based Educator’s blog with homestead projects that involve children. As a transitioning class teacher in the Waldorf School, I believe the farm component for children is clearly needed. I left the classroom due to a health issue that has only been alleviated due to eating real food and following the GAPS diet. But the cooking skills are something children can benefit from and I’m very excited to be able to share homesteading and cooking with children again. Here we have a few acres and raise chickens, sheep and hopefully soon some kind of dairy animal. Happy 2014 Ariana to you and your sweet family.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for your encouraging comment! I especially appreciated you saying that I’m doing something different– that’s really what I want, to offer *new* ideas.
I LOVE your vision for your blog. Teaching children about raising and cooking food is such an important issue, and I am always happy to hear about people who are doing just that. The blogging part can be daunting– I can see that– and yet I think you will have a wonderful perspective to offer. When you do get going, be sure to contact my network The Village Green– I think you’d be a perfect fit!
